Just a Short Drive to Your Next Adventure!

The Galena Creek Visitor Center is located on the Mount Rose Scenic Byway, in the Galena Creek Recreation Area (GCRA). GCRA adjoins Galena Creek Regional Park, providing over 500 acres of outdoor learning opportunities! The park offers easy access to sagebrush valleys, forested mountains, and vibrant, four-season Galena Creek. The park’s “transition zone” flora and fauna make it a unique and ideal setting for outdoor learning and adventure. Learn about natural, cultural, and historical resources of the Galena Canyon area & the Mount Rose Scenic Byway.

Whether you attend one of our interpretive programs, a guided hike, coffee with a Ranger, a holiday-themed event or a Great Basin Naturalist Camp, the Visitor Center invites all ages to interact with nature and to discover the diverse ecosystem of Galena Creek.

Photos from some of our weekend presentations!

In 2019, we completed a restoration project with our Fall Break campers to restore eroded areas of the Galena Creek stream bank. Grad students at the University of Nevada Reno completed this awesome video to highlight the work that was done. Check it out!
