Outdoor Learning Close to Home

Great Basin Naturalists at Galena offer exploration camps for campers age 8-12 during each Washoe County School District Break, including a week of Fall Break Camp, two weeks of Spring Break Camp, nine weeks of day and residential Summer Camp, and a summer Teen Science and Service Learning Camp for 13-17 year old campers.
Located on Mt. Rose Highway between South Reno and Lake Tahoe, our day and residential Camps open a portal to the wider world through fun, educational, hands-on discovery of the natural wonders of forests, creeks, lakes and ponds at the Galena Creek Recreation Area.
Great Basin Naturalists at Galena camps provide quality outdoor experiences that emphasize environmental science and physical activity. We foster creativity, promote core education, and emphasize responsibility to society and the environment. Campers have fun, make friends, learn, and have outdoor adventures.
Great Basin Naturalists Camp Counselors, Naturalists and Staff are trained outdoor education leaders committed to providing a safe and fun learning experiences for all campers.

This year, Great Basin Naturalist is partnering with CampDoc.com to better serve our campers and staff. CampDoc.com offers online registration and an electronic health record system for camps. You can now register your camper and complete their health information all in one place.

Once you sign up for a CampDoc.com account, you will be able to register your camper and make payments online. Afterwards, you will receive more information on how to complete your camper’s health profile.
