With the support of the William N. Pennington Foundation and the Alternative Field Studies Committee, we have developed a program to support STEAM education in local Title I school, K-12th grade classrooms. The AFSP provides curricula and materials to teachers at low-income WCSD schools so that they may facilitate nature-based education to their distance learning and in-classroom students during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you're a K-12 educator at a Title I school in Washoe County, you are eligible to receive a free Alternative Field Study Program-scholarship! Fill out the application below and submit it to us for review and consideration at visitorcenter@thegreatbasininstitute.org!
